Hammertrack Blue and Hammertrack Amber share the same core. Blue: gets you organized and gives you basic financial visibility; Amber: does your bookkeeping and replaces Quickbooks. Here's more on what each one actually does.
Rapidly manage receipts, log labor hours, track projects, and send invoices.
Project financials are always up to date without mental gymnastics, rough guesses, or spreadsheet hell.
No more bookkeeping, and no more Quickbooks.
Paying a bookkeeper? Fighting with not-so-quick QuickBooks? Amber is worth a look. Bookkeeping and accounting done for you, and a proper dashboard and tax-ready reports for your accountant.
The system is designed around a single concept: intake your transaction data as fast as possible and never touch it again.
01
Get a receipt? Take a photo. Worked on a project? Log your hours. Either takes about 15-20 seconds on your phone.
02
Assign each entry to a project or to your company's general expenses. That's how Hammertrack knows what each job actually costs you.
03
Project totals update instantly, so you know where any job stands financially at any time — not just when you get around to the spreadsheet three nights from now.
To be honest, you don't get to choose at first--everyone starts with Blue, but there's a great reason for this. Your success with Hammertrack, Blue or Amber, is completely dependent on using it consistently... the goal is build the habit so you input every receipt and log your hours every day.
Blue is fast, streamlined, and organized. After you have used it for a few weeks and developed good habits by adding expenses and labor as they occur, then you can decide between Blue and Amber (or decide to go back to spreadsheets, file folders, and Quickbooks if that works better for you).
Both products are priced per month with no commitment of any kind. If you add employees, it's $5/month per additional user. Your accountant's access is free.

Hammertrack was built by Vermont carpenters to solve the problems that they've experienced for many years: on the tools all day, paperwork at night, too much money for a bookkeeping service, and the cost of an accounting tool that they barely use (e.g. Quickbooks).

We want you to have a great experience with Hammertrack, and getting used to using Blue, even for a short time, will set you up for success.
We are carpenters in Vermont... we've worked together at times, but mostly we work on our own, which means we each have to jump through the same paperwork hoops as larger companies. We decided that it's high time that someone made something just for folks like us.
Yes. Keep in mind that Quickbooks tries to be everything to everyone. Our view is that one accounting platform can't be perfect for restaurants AND small manufacturers AND law firms AND retailers AND independent contractors and so forth. Even if Quickbooks was designed for project-based businesses like ours (which it isn't), its user interface is geared to bookkeepers and accountants, not people like us.
So, we designed Hammertrack's internal accounting functions to be laser-focused on our niche... nothing extra, no complications, just focused.
